Inaugural Issue of the Journal “Sewerage Facilities”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The predecessor of our association was the Tokyo Sewage Facilities Business Association<\/b>, which was established as a voluntary organisation on 7th November 1979<\/b>. This organisation was formed by companies with experience in Tokyo’s sewage facilities sector, with the aim of supporting the city’s sewage infrastructure projects and enhancing the technical and social standing of the industry. The first president was Seiji Hatakeyama<\/b>, then President of Ebara Corporation<\/b>, and the association initially consisted of 20 member companies.<\/p>\n

The office was first established on the 4th floor of the Sanko Mori Building, 1-3-1 Atago, Minato-ku. The association engaged in various activities, including submitting proposals to relevant organisations, training and educating engineers, researching and advising on labour safety measures, collecting and providing information on sewage projects, and hosting lectures and training sessions. In January 1982, the association launched its official journal, “Sewerage Facilities”<\/b>. Additionally, on 21st December 1981, the office was relocated to the Fukite No.2 Building, 4-1-23 Toranomon, Minato-ku.<\/p>\n

From the outset, preparations were made to obtain corporate status. Finally, on 3rd April 1984<\/b>, the association received official recognition from the Governor of Tokyo as the Tokyo Sewage Facilities Association<\/b>, marking the establishment of the organisation. This date has since been designated as the association\u2019s founding anniversary.<\/p>\n

The first president, Seiji Hatakeyama<\/b>, continued his leadership from the voluntary organisation. The office remained in Toranomon, and the association’s objectives were expanded to include a commitment to improving the living environment for Tokyo residents<\/b>.<\/p>\n

On 28th September 1993, the office was relocated to the 3rd floor of Shinjuku Chiba Building, 1-23-1 Nishi-Shinjuku (renamed TK Shintoshin Building in 2001). Later, on 3rd September 2008, the office moved to its current location on the 13th floor of Shinjuku Mitsui Building No.2, 3-2-11 Nishi-Shinjuku.<\/p>\n

Following reforms in the Public Interest Corporation System<\/b>, the association transitioned into a General Incorporated Association<\/b> on 1st April 2012<\/b>, continuing its activities to this day.<\/p>\n

26 Apr 2006<\/td>Fumio Shimakawa appointed as the 4th President.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
26 Apr 2007<\/td>Keiji Kataoka appointed as the 5th President.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

12 Mar 2011 to 15 Apr 2011<\/td>Following the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11th March 2011, the association dispatched emergency response teams under the existing agreement with the Tokyo Metropolitan Sewerage Bureau to assist in restoring damaged sewage facilities.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
06 Oct 2011<\/td>Received a letter of appreciation from the Tokyo Metropolitan Sewerage Bureau for restoration efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
01 Apr 2012<\/td>Transitioned to a General Incorporated Association following reforms in the Public Interest Corporation System.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
01 Apr 2013<\/td>Revised the agreement on emergency restoration work for treatment plants and signed a new agreement for emergency restoration work for Water Reclamation Centres.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
